VRR Time Trial Sep 2017 race report

Melbourne showed off its spring charm in the early hours at The Tan today. Being Father’s Day weekend, there aren’t any long runs around within driving distance, road or trail, so that gave me a chance to try something different – an 8km handicapped sprint hosted by the Victorian Road Runners.

It felt refreshing to start out a bit harder than usual and not needing to save energy for the distance. Handicapped for 42, I came home in just over 41.

I noted a few Melbourne Marathon Spartan runners joined in the run today.

Upon completing the race, I trained on with a running mate, then washed it down with a hot and sweaty Bikram session.

Surf Coast Century is next week, providing a decent long run to top off training for VMM100.
