One of the main reasons why regular running or walking improves health is due to the fact that there are over 7000 nerve endings under each foot. A therapist can pinpoint any part of the body through these endings. Some experienced healers would go as far as comparing the feet to a pair of second hearts.
Many of these nerve endings are used in Eastern Medicine as acupressure points for targeted treatment or strategic prevention.
Personally, I went from being heavily reliant on antibiotics for the first 40 years of my life, to being 100% drug free over the last few years – thanks to the magical trinity of meditation, yoga, and running. And I am seeing a similar pattern of change in friends and mentees who have been persisting long enough with these practices.
