Learning Mentoring Reading Startups

Recommended Books for Entrepreneurs

Over the years, my mentees have been asking me about the must-read books for a new start-up founder or an entrepreneur with a few years’ experience.

Here are some of the books that have influenced my thinking:
Thinking, Fast and Slow, by D. Kahneman
Originals: How Non-Conformists Move the World, by A. Grant
The Engineer, by E. Nordeus
Methods of Persuasion: How to Use Psychology to Influence Human Behavior, by N. Kolenda
David and Goliath: Underdogs, Misfits, and the Art of Battling Giants, by M. Gladwell
Traction: How Any Startup Can Achieve Explosive Customer Growth, by Weinberg and Mares
Hooked: How to Build Habit-Forming Products, by N. Eyal
Drive: The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us, by D. Pink
The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business, by C. Duhigg
Heart, Smarts, Guts, and Luck: What It Takes to Be an Entrepreneur and Build a Great Business, by Tjan, Harrington & Hsieh
The Longest Way Home: One Man’s Quest for the Courage to Settle Down, by A. McCarthy

I have deliberately not included books on agile, lean start-ups, financing and other necessary start-up capabilities, as I think building the right foundation to drive long-term thinking, motivations, behaviour and confidence is more critical to successful entrepreneurship.
