After being away from running for a few weeks due to different reasons, Julie and I resumed our running routine at The Tan over the 50km yesterday. Meg turned up super early to support us from 5:30am and strolled through the equivalence of a half marathon jogging with us. Bruce was there not long after to run his casual 35km. Angelo was his usual speedy self, breezing through 21km without breaking a sweat. All of us wore the Big Red Run tops in support of our friends running the 2018 edition of this wonderful event in a few days.
Alongside these superhumans, we felt pretty human indeed. Without hard recent mileage, the 13 laps around The Tan seemed a tad longer than usual.
Nevertheless, it was only a matter of time before we finished the course. Julie was in a world of pain, but, as now being the norm for her, dug deep to put in a strong performance given the conditions.
For me, it was a wonderful day to resume running and catch up with dear friends and their families later on. My first 24-hour event is about 3 weeks away, so today’s mileage would no doubt be beneficial as part of the lead-up.
Thanks Bruce and Meg for the video, photos and your amazing presence, as usual!
As with other Trails+ events, the organisation by Brett Saxon and his team was to the point and effective. Thanks, team!
